STM32MP1 Microprocessor Series from STMicroelectronics

DH electronics has been an ST Authorized Partner for several years and uses products from the well-known STM32 microprocessor family. The STM32MP1 microprocessor series ranges from single ARM Cortex-A7 to dual ARM Cortex-A7 and Cortex-M4 processors. The STM32MP1 family has been designed to make the CPUs suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. The processors from the STM32MP13 and STM32MP15 families used by DH electronics were also developed for industrial applications such as automation solutions, IoT applications or smart building solutions.

The DHCOR STM32MP13, DHCOR STM32MP15 and DHCOM STM32MP15 System on Modules from DH electronics include three SoMs with processors from the STM32MP1 family. We distinguish between pluggable system-on-modules (DHCOM) and solderable computer modules (DHCOR). Both variants offer their advantages and the choice depends on the application of our customers. At the embedded world exhibition and conference 2023, Product Manager Andreas Geisreiter presented our new DHCOR STM32MP13 solder-on module. Kamel Kholti, Product Marketing Manager at ST Microelectronics, is also enthusiastic about the space- and cost-saving SOM with extended security features. According to the manufacturer, the two processor families differ as follows:

  • The STM32MP13x product line consisting of STM32MP131, STM32MP133, STM32MP135 helps optimize power consumption and reduce costs while providing certified security for entry-level Linux, bare-metal or RTOS-based systems.
  • The STM32MP15x product line consisting of STM32MP151, STM32MP153, STM32MP157 provides heterogeneous processing to support Linux and real-time applications.

The STM32MP1 series is designed to meet the increasing demand for security in Industry 4.0, Smart City and Smart Home applications. In addition to security, the series helps to efficiently reduce energy consumption and costs. The STM32MP1's extensive ecosystem offers many advantages. Developers can use OpenSTLinux, an open source Linux distribution package, as well as the STM32Cube firmware. In addition, developers can access a wide range of ST tools and ST partner resources, get local support and use global distribution channels. The STM32MP1 meets a wide range of requirements in the industrial, smart city, smart home, retail, medical and healthcare sectors.
