Phew, that was a precision landing. Just in time for Embedded World 2022 in Nuremberg, we have made it and proudly present our DRC02 IoT gateway based on the STM32MP1 and AWS IoT Greengrass 2.5.3. It is now also listed in the AWS Partner Device Catalog as an AWS qualified device.

A little over a year ago, Stefan Daxenberger (CEO at DH electronics), Kamel Kholti (Product Marketing Manager at ST) and Andrew Dostie (Director Of Application Engineering at ST) made it their goal to tackle an industrial IoT gateway together with AWS. No sooner said than done.

But as it happens, there were some challenges to overcome, and the final phase was very hectic. So today we are even more pleased to announce that the DRC02 STM32MP1 IoT gateway is now listed in the AWS Partner Device Catalog.

Thanks to our partners AWS, ST and Klika Tech, we will be able to show a cool demo application in the form of 3D printing anomaly detection at the embedded world conference in hall 2, booth 2-101 and 2-103.

We outline the function of the demo very briefly here: We have attached two accelerometers to the 3D printer, which transmit their motion data via a multiplexer to both a Wireless Bluetooth board and a LoRA board in the form of two Nucleo boards from ST. The Bluetooth board transmits the motion data to the DRC02 IoT gateway, which runs the machine learning algorithm to detect anomalies in the 3D printer's motion data. Due to the bandwidth limitation of LoRa, the anomaly detection is run on the LoRa board and the results are then transmitted to the DRC02 IoT gateway. The machine learning algorithm was created using AWS Sagemaker, Sagemaker neo, and Cube.AI in data collection mode. The anomalies are graphically displayed on a 10-inch tablet connected to the AWS cloud.

More demos at our booth in Hall 2, Booths 2-101 and 2-103:

  • AI: object recognition using SSD MobileNet with the Avenger96 Makerboard based on DHCOR STM32MP1.
  • System on Modules: Premiere of the new DHCOM i.MX8M Plus System on Modules with NPU from NXP
  • System on Modules: Overview of our solderable and pluggable SOMs with CPUs from ST and NXP
  • Intelligent building: remote maintenance and energy optimization with our IoT gateway and web app from our partner JUCONN
  • Embedded Processing: fast and easy HMI solutions with DHMI 10.1 based on STM32MP1 and Candera CGI Studio
  • Customized processing and visualization unit for lab and measurement in cooperation with DENX and SmartHMI.

See you in Nuremberg!
