DHCOM i.MX8M Plus coming soon

Date : 30. September 2021

Towards the end of Q1/2022 we will have the first prototypes of the DHCOM i.MX8M Plus in house and test them extensively. We can already provide interested parties with a preliminary data sheet upon request. Also a limited number of the pluggable DHCOM i.MX8M Plus module with SODIMM-200 socket will then already be available for prototyping purposes.

The i.MX8M Plus family focuses on machine learning and image processing, advanced multimedia and industrial automation with high reliability. These applications are enabled in the smallest space of only 67.6 x 36.7 x 8.1 mm and with a temperature range of - 40 °C to + 85 °C. The processor is tailored to the needs of Smart Home, Smart City, Smart Building and Industry 4.0 applications and impresses with numerous advantages:

  • On the one hand, the powerful Quad- or Dual-Arm® Cortex®-A53 processor impresses with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that operates at up to 2.3 TOPS. This allows elaborate matrix calculations to be performed, enabling computational capabilities for AI. Learned neural networks are used for pattern, speech and object recognition.
  • On the other hand, the Dual Image Signal Processor (ISP) and two camera inputs provide an advanced image processing system for high-performance image and video processing.
  • In addition, the i.MX8M Plus has multimedia capabilities that enable both video encoding (1080p60 H.264, H.265) and video decoding (1080p60 H.264, H.265). This represents a special feature. With the help of encoding, the video data is compressed and can be transmitted faster.
  • Real-time control is achieved with the Cortex-M7. Here, the robust control network is supported by the Dual-CAN FD and Dual-Gigabit Ethernet with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). The high industrial reliability is given by a DRAM Inline ECC.
